ABOUT SVK SILTA
SVK Silta is one of the projects of the SVK Association (SVK Liitto ry), which offers free training and supervision for volunteers. Our Russian-speaking volunteers assist individuals facing various challenges while living in Finland.
After completing the course "Volunteering in Finland" and receiving a certificate, volunteers can create an account on our website and help at events organized by:
-
SVK Association
-
any of the 54 organizations registered in the SVK Association
Volunteer mentors also provide free individual consultations to private clients on issues related to integration, health and education.
If a volunteer guide wants to conduct group classes or lectures, there is an opportunity to participate in additional free training to become a support group leader and receive a certificate. For more information, visit the Training section.
VOLUNTEERS IN FINLAND
Volunteer activities:
-
complement health and social services,
-
strengthen social values,
-
improve the lives of individuals.
If you don't have enough work experience in Finland, volunteering can be a great way to start a professional career.
Volunteering is unpaid, but the experience and knowledge you gain can be invaluable when seeking for paid employment. As a volunteer, you will receive a diploma that can be added to your CV.

If you are receiving (at the same time as doing volunteer work) unemployment benefits, check with your Employment and Economic Development Centre to find out how volunteer work may affect your benefits. In some cases, volunteer work can be included in your individual integration plan.
On September 21, 2024, SVK Liitto hosted the Gaala Volunteer Festival. The event brought together over 30 active volunteers from various cities across Finland. The Gaala Volunteer Festival showed how volunteering contributes to integration into Finnish society.
Volunteers from all over the country came to receive an award and recognition for their important work, as well as to share experiences and inspire others.
Watch our video to experience the festival and see how volunteering unites people, helps to adapt and becomes an important part of life in Finland.
